Sermons
The Word of God is our life Deut. 32:46-47, and it is God’s chosen means of communicating Himself, His will, and His salvation through Christ to us Heb. 1:1-2. Because this is true, we must faithfully and joyfully submit ourselves to it in all that it says and in every area of our life. Here at BHBC we strive to be systematic and intentional in approach to Scripture, and our Sunday services are designed help us experience both the transcendence and the immanence of our God. Expository Preaching
“Because God has decided to act by His Spirit through His Word,” we are a church that is committed to expository preaching of God’s Word. We believe that “the main role of any pastor, is [expository] preaching.” By expository preaching we mean: “preaching which takes for the point of a sermon the point of a particular passage of Scripture. That’s it. The preacher opens the Word and unfolds it for the people of God…. Expositional preaching is preaching in service to the Word. It presumes a belief in the authority of Scripture—that the Bible is actually God’s Word; but it is something much more than that. A commitment to expositional preaching is a commitment to hear God’s Word—not just to affirm that it is God’s Word but to actually submit yourself to it.”

Christlike Discipleship
We believe that Matthew 28:18-20, better known to most as “The Great Commission,” is not just a call to Christian ministry and missions in general; it is actually a call to the specific ministry of making disciples for Christ of all peoples. In fact, when Jesus instructed His disciples to “make disciples of all nations,” He was actually commanding them (and us, by extension) to be disciple-making disciples. This disciples-making-disciples plan, then, is the heart of the church’s mission, and we strive to make it the heart of the ministry and mission of BHBC as well.

Following the Great Commandments
Our Lord was once asked to name the most important commandment in the law of God. His answer is found in one of the most familiar texts in the New Testament: "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the law and the prophets" (Matt.22:37-40). Because this is true, here at BHBC we strive to center all of our gospel efforts under these two foundational commands: Love God and Love People!
